Description
Engineering Application & Overview
Hertz Water-Driven and Pneumatic Gas Freeing Fans provide ATEX-compliant ventilation of confined spaces aboard vessels — cargo tanks, void spaces, ballast tanks, fuel tanks, and sewage tanks — where electrical ventilation fans create unacceptable ignition risk from residual hydrocarbon vapour, explosive gas atmospheres, or oxygen-deficient conditions that would cause electric motor failure. Driven entirely by water pressure from the ship’s fire main (water-driven variant) or from compressed air supply (pneumatic variant), Hertz gas freeing fans produce high-volume airflow to displace explosive, toxic, or oxygen-deficient atmospheres before personnel entry as required by SOLAS regulations, ISM Code confined space entry procedures, and port state control inspection requirements. Rapid atmosphere changeover time is critical to shipyard repair schedule efficiency — Hertz gas freeing fans’ high flow rate minimizes the pre-entry ventilation hold time, enabling earlier commencement of hot work or personnel entry at Kepulauan Riau shipyards.
