Hertz Pneumatic Mucking Winches are air-motor-driven hoisting and material handling winches specifically designed for cargo hold cleaning operations aboard bulk carriers and general cargo vessels. During hold cleaning between voyages — required to prevent cargo contamination — mucking winches lift skips and buckets of debris, residual cargo material, and wash water out of the deep cargo hold in confined conditions where electric-powered hoisting equipment creates explosion and electric shock hazards from the wet, contaminated hold environment. The pneumatic drive eliminates all electrical ignition sources, making Hertz mucking winches inherently safe for use in enclosed cargo spaces that may contain dust from previous grain, fertilizer, or chemical cargo — environments where a single electrical spark could trigger a dust explosion. Line speeds up to 30 m/min and lifting capacities up to 2,000 kg enable efficient cleaning throughput at Batam port vessel turnaround operations.
